I own a Franchi 12 guage that is about 2 years old and whenever I fire it, it jams a lot of the time.?

I usually use regular 12 gauge ammo, 3 inch length. Anyway, when I went skeet shooting last weekend, our guide said if I use more powerful ammo, the kick will give the gun a more consistent recoil. Has this ever happened to anyone and, if so, did you find a heavier ammo helped? Any tips on different kinds of ammo or other solutions to fix this problem are much appreciated. Thanks!
